Mechanical Superintendent

About the Role
We’re seeking an experienced Mechanical Superintendent
to lead and support Client's Yard and Operations teams through proactive problem-solving, technical expertise, and continuous improvement in equipment maintenance and repair. This role is key to delivering operational excellence, cost efficiency, and long-term fleet reliability.
Responsibilities
✅ Ensure compliance with HSEQ guidelines and company policies
✅ Identify, document, and address operational or plant issues with action plans
✅ Lead root cause analyses and drive maintenance program improvements to reduce downtime
✅ Consult on high-cost repairs and evaluate cost-effective alternatives
✅ Advise on repair strategies and respond to technical queries
✅ Review and verify the quality of major repairs
✅ Estimate costs, timelines, and requirements for large repairs, modifications, and innovation projects
✅ Champion fleet innovation and continuous improvement initiatives
✅ Recommend cost-saving initiatives and supplier options
✅ Provide guidance on parts, service options, and modification strategies
✅ Support the Yard team on all technical and operational matters
✅ Deliver training and mentoring to upskill team members
✅ Participate in special projects as assigned by the Line Manager
Requirements
🎓 Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) OR
- Over 15 years of relevant experience in construction, plant, or equipment operations
🛠️ Skills & Attributes
- Strong mechanical knowledge with diagnostic and problem-resolution expertise
- Proven experience in heavy equipment maintenance, repair, and fleet operations
- Familiarity with preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance systems
- Hands-on leadership with excellent interpersonal skills
- Strong communication and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work independently while collaborating across departments
- Exceptional organisational, multitasking, and time management skills
