Job Description: Process Engineer / Production Support Engineer
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Area Operations Manager in daily production activities to meet production schedules, and achieve EHS, quality, and cost targets.
- Provide support in production and process optimization, troubleshooting, data analysis, and technical guidance.
- Maintain production, time, and environmental metrics; closely monitor process performance and unit consumption of raw materials, chemicals, and utilities. Manage all production reporting in SAP.
- Monitor and improve plant operations by regularly analyzing safety control devices, environmental systems, and process parameters to detect and prevent problems.
- Analyze existing processes and propose improvements to enhance efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
- Minimize losses by implementing corrective procedures and conducting investigations to identify root causes of losses. Recommend and implement improvements to equipment and production methods.
- Manage multiple projects of simple to medium complexity, including capital projects, process improvements, and EHS initiatives.
- Develop, maintain, and update process documentation such as manuals, SOPs, training materials, and P&IDs.
- Maintain and report on process metrics and performance data to support operations.
- Review and manage alarm limits in the DCS to maintain safe and effective operations.
- Contribute to the Annual Operations Plan by providing data, analysis, and recommendations.
- Conduct training sessions for operations personnel.
- Oversee the Management of Change (MOC) process for production units.
- Develop and support plans for equipment and plant turnarounds.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Chemical Engineering.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, SAP, and general computer applications.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in a chemical or petrochemical plant environment.
- Strong technical knowledge and eagerness to stay current in the field.
- Analytical thinker with the ability to evaluate both process and non-process situations.
- Skilled in identifying cause-effect relationships, with excellent planning and follow-through.
- Capable of quickly assimilating and applying new information.
- Able to read and interpret piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact across all levels.
- Effective decision-maker under pressure.
- Team-oriented, with a strong grasp of group dynamics and collaborative work in an empowered environment.
- Mature, tactful, and able to interface with all levels of the organization professionally.
Skills and Abilities:
- Solid understanding of engineering drawings, specifications, and design principles.
- Familiarity with SS506 and Process Safety Management.
- General knowledge of instrumentation and process control systems.
- Working knowledge of plant safety and engineering safety principles.
- Proficient in using engineering software and tools to analyze and solve problems.
- Strong technical writing and communication skills.
- Knowledge of project planning and management.
- Ability to handle multiple projects, diagnose design issues, and troubleshoot effectively.
- Strong conflict resolution and contractor negotiation skills.
- Capable of interacting with all employee levels and maintaining vigilance toward safety hazards.
